The Hawaiian Aquarium will celebrate Ocean ‘Ohana month with 50% off general admission for Kama`aina and U.S. military!  Discounted rates are $12.98 for adults, $7.48 for children ages 3-12, and $11.48 for seniors age 65 and older; all prices plus tax. Event: Fins and Flippers Tour
Description: Learn fascinating facts about sharks and green sea turtles on the exclusive Fins and Flippers tour.  Led by a knowledgeable Ocean Naturalist, this interactive tour includes a sneak peek behind-the-scenes at Maui Ocean Center and the chance to observe the feeding behavior of sharks and sea turtles at Hammerhead Harbor and Turtle Lagoon.  Tours are offered Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:30am and 1:30pm for $10 per person plus Aquarium admission.  Space is limited and advance reservations are recommended by calling (808) 270-7088.

Event: Turtle-rrific Thursday
Description: Enjoy up close and personal encounters with green sea turtles!  Beginning at 2pm, guests are invited to join Maui Ocean Center’s aquarist team at Turtle Lagoon, where the team will measure, weigh and check the general health of the turtles.  The aquarists will also share fascinating facts about green sea turtle biology, behavior and diet.

Event:  Monk Seal Foundation Info Booth

Description: Guests can learn about the endemic Hawaiian monk seal, one of the world’s most critically endangered animals, at the educational info booth provided by the Monk Seal Foundation (MSF).  MSF volunteers will share information about monk seals, the challenges they face, and how to help this endangered species.  This activity is offered from 10am to 2pm in the Aquarium’s Marine Mammal Discovery Center.  A fun children’s craft will also be provided.  For more info on the Monk Seal Foundation, visit www.monksealfoundation.org.

Event: Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet

Event: Hawai‘i’s Unique Oceans Art Contest

Description: The Aquarium’s annual Art contest, held in honor of World Oceans Day, encourages ocean appreciation and awareness in Maui County children grades K-5. The theme of the contest is Hawaii’s Unique Oceans and the grand prize for the top three entries that best represent this theme is an annual membership to Maui Ocean Center. Winning and finalist entries will be displayed at the Aquarium beginning the week of World Oceans Day, June 8th. The last day to submit entries is June 2, 2014.

Event: Talk Story & Hula Lessons with Kahu Dane Maxwell and ‘Ohana

Description: Visitors to Maui Ocean Center will have an extraordinary opportunity to hear from Maui Ocean Center’s Hawaiian Cultural Advisor Kahu Dane Maxwell and take in a hula lesson.  At 11:45am, following the Aquarium’s 11:00am dive presentation, Kahu Dane Maxwell and ‘Ohana (family) will conduct a talk story session and hula lesson at the Hawaiians and the Sea exhibit.  This activity is complimentary with aquarium admission and appropriate for all ages.  Schedule subject to change.

Event: Children’s Story Time & Craft Hour

Description: Children ages 3-12 are invited to an intriguing story time in the Hawaiians and the Sea Exhibit. Story time is hosted by an Ocean Naturalist and includes making a fun, marine-themed craft for keiki to take home.
