Join us at the height of whale season as we highlight these amazing marine mammals with fascinating naturalist presentations, whale watching from Harbor Plaza, the Whale Sanctuary info booth and exciting children’s activities. Sea of Love Valentine’s Dinner

Spend a romantic evening at Maui’s most unique Valentine’s experience, the Sea of Love Dinner! This popular Aquarium signature event features semi-private seating among the Aquarium’s stunning exhibits and a decadent four-course menu prepared by James Beard Nominee Chef Henry Tariga and catered by the award-winning Seascape Ma‘alaea Restaurant for $99 plus gratuity and tax per person. Seating times are between 6pm and 8pm. Reservations are required; call 808-270-7088 Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm. Seating is limited, call early to avoid disappointment.

Harbor Plaza Whale Watching
Mondays 9am-1pm; February 4, 11, 18, 25

Volunteers from the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary will be at the Aquarium’s Harbor Plaza throughout whale season. Enjoy help with spotting whales and interpreting their fantastic acrobatic feats and other surface behaviors from these expert volunteers. Overlooking Ma‘alaea Bay, the Harbor Plaza is the perfect place to watch for Humpbacks.

Fins and Flippers Tour

Learn fascinating shark and turtle facts on the interactive Fins and Flippers tour. Led by a knowledgeable Ocean Naturalist, the interactive Fins and Flippers tour includes a sneak peek behind-the-scenes at the Aquarium’s wet laboratory and the chance to observe a supervised feed at Hammerhead Harbor and Turtle Lagoon.

Wet Naturalist Presentations
Thursdays & Sundays 11:30am-1:30pm;

Get a hands-on feel for Hawaii’s marine invertebrates during interactive presentations at the Aquarium’s Discovery Pool. Invertebrates are animals without backbones and include creatures such as urchins, sea stars and sea cucumbers. With the help of a wet naturalist inside the exhibit, guests will have the chance to touch and feel a few of these spineless creatures!

Children’s Story Time & Craft Hour
Saturdays 11:30am; February 2, 9, 16, 23

Children ages 3-12 are invited to an intriguing story time in the Hawaiians & the Sea Exhibit. Story time is hosted by an Ocean Naturalist and includes making a fun, marine-themed craft for keiki to take home.

Monk Seal Foundation Booth
Sundays 10am-2pm; February 10, 24

Learn about the endemic Hawaiian monk seal, one of the world’s most critically endangered animals, at the Monk Seal Foundation educational info booth in the Aquarium’s Marine Mammal Discovery Center. MSF volunteers will share information about monk seals, the challenges they face, and how to help this endangered species. A fun children’s craft will also be provided.

Sleep with the Sharks
5:30pm-8:00am (next day); Saturday, February 16, 2013

Children ages 8-13 are invited to a fun and educational sleepover at the Aquarium! Participants will enjoy the opportunity to observe the nocturnal behaviors of sharks and other fascinating marine animals as they learn about Hawaiian marine life with exciting hands-on discovery lessons and ocean-themed games and crafts. Cost is $60 plus tax per child; Aquarium members receive 15% off. Fee includes snacks, a pizza dinner, continental breakfast and souvenir. Reservations are required by calling 808-270-7075.

Turtle-rrific Thursday

Enjoy up close and personal encounters with green sea turtles at Maui Ocean Center’s Turtle Lagoon. Interact with the Aquarium’s curatorial team, the staff who care for the animals and exhibits, and learn fascinating facts about the biology, behavior and diet of green sea turtles.

Discover the fascinating story behind the green sea turtles at Maui Ocean Center. Join a special guest speaker at the Turtle Lagoon for casual turtle talks and an up close encounter with a Hawaiian green sea turtle. Along with interesting turtle facts, guests will learn about the Aquarium’s involvement in Sea Life Park Hawaii’s green sea turtle educational loan program.
