Maui Ocean Center will celebrate ‘Wave of Gratitude’,
other exciting aquarium activities throughout November.

NOVEMBER CALENDAR LISTINGS

Promotion: Wave of Gratitude

Synopsis: Throughout November, all U.S. Police, Fire, Lifeguard, and EMT personnel along with one (1) accompanying guest, will receive 50% off the general admission price. Valid identification is required at the time of purchase.

Event: Camouflage Tour

Synopsis: Enjoy a complimentary tour of the Aquarium’s marine animals that use camouflage as a means of defense or to prey on other animals. This 45-minute Ocean Naturalist-guided tour is offered at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11 in honor of Veterans’ Day.

Event: ‘Amazing Aquarists’ Tour

Synopsis: Go behind the scenes on an exclusive, guided tour. Meet one of Maui Ocean Center’s amazing Aquarists and learn about their day-to-day responsibilities on an exclusive behind-the-scenes, guided tour. A supervised feeding of hammerhead sharks, Hawaiian green sea turtles, and fish is included! Offered every Wednesday in November at 1:00 p.m. Sign up at the Aquarium’s front gate or in advance by calling (808) 270-7089. Meet at the Aquarium’s Info Booth at 1 p.m. to begin your tour!

Event: Chef Diver

Synopsis: Catch the special of the day as Chef Diver serves up fishy meals for the Aquarium’s animals. Learn the key ingredients that make up a healthy diet for the Aquarium’s sharks, rays, and fish, and enjoy the opportunity to ask Chef Diver questions. See Chef Diver every Friday at Hammerhead Harbor at 12 p.m., offered throughout November. Complimentary with aquarium admission.

Event: No Ka ‘Oi Friday

Synopsis: Experience the beauty of the aloha spirit at Maui Ocean Center with special presentations, demonstrations, a delicious island-style lunch special, shopping specials in the Maui Ocean Center Store, and a Mid-Day Mana‘o with the Aquarium’s volunteer staff.

Synopsis: For a limited time only, all activity agents, hotel concierge and visitor industry employees, and Kama‘aina throughout the state of Hawaii, will receive 20% off the regular Shark Dive Maui™ rate for a fee of $159.20. Divers must be SCUBA certified and 15 years of age or older. A dive certification card and valid Hawaii state photo identification or proof of employment must be mentioned when booking and presented on the day of the dive to receive the reduced rate. Bookings can be made no more than one day in advance, cannot be purchased as a gift certificate, or combined with any other offers and or discounts.

OCTOBER 5, 2009, MA‘ALAEA, MAUI, HI – Throughout November, Maui Ocean Center celebrates ‘Wave of Gratitude’, with a 50% off on general admission for all U.S. Police, Fire, Lifeguard, EMT personnel and one (1) accompanying guest. The ‘Wave of Gratitude’ discount runs throughout the month of November. The discounted general admission rates are $12.50 plus tax for Adults, and $11 plus tax for Seniors age 65 up, and requires valid identification. The additional guest must accompany the above stated military personnel at the time of entry. This offer cannot be combined with any other discounts or promotions.

In the season of giving thanks, The Hawaiian Aquarium invites the public to enjoy special presentations, activities for children ages 3-12 including exciting crafts and weekly story times, exclusive tour packages, a delicious Thanksgiving Day lunch special, and a cultural experience with No Ka ‘Oi Friday- the Aquarium’s monthly celebration of Hawaii’s traditions.

 

Veterans’ Day Tour

In honor of Veterans’ Day on Wednesday, November11, Maui Ocean Center recognizes our brave Veterans with special souvenirs and a complimentary tour. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors will receive a patriotic-themed souvenir at the Aquarium’s front gate.

Guests may sign up for the complimentary Camouflage Tour which begins at 11:30 a.m. This 45-minute tour will feature the many marine animals that use camouflage as a means of defense or to prey on other animals. Only one tour will be given for the day; guests may meet their Ocean Naturalist guide at the Aquarium’s Surge Zone Exhibit before descending into the Living Reef

 

‘Amazing Aquarists’ Tour Package

In November, aquarium guests will have the opportunity to see Maui Ocean Center marine life through the eyes of an Aquarist with the exclusive ‘Amazing Aquarists’ tour, offered every Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. The ‘Amazing Aquarists’ tour takes guests behind the scenes on a special, guided tour. Participants will meet one of Maui Ocean Center’s outstanding Aquarist team members and participate in their day-to-day responsibilities, which includes a supervised feeding of hammerhead sharks, Hawaiian green sea turtles, and fish! Tour upgrades are $10 per person and do not include aquarium admission; they may be purchased at the Aquarium’s front gate or reserved in advance by calling (808) 270-7089.

 

Chef Diver Presentations

Every Friday in November, one of Maui Ocean Center’s talented divers will serve up the marine special of the day as he shows guests how meals for the animals at the Aquarium are prepared. Chef Diver presentations take place at Hammerhead Harbor at 12 p.m. and are included with aquarium admission. Learn the key ingredients that make up a healthy diet for the Aquarium’s sharks, rays, and fish, and enjoy the opportunity to ask Chef Diver questions.

 

No Ka ‘Oi Friday

Guests are invited to experience the beauty of the aloha spirit on Friday, November 27 with special presentations and demonstrations, dining and shopping specials, a Mid-Day Mana‘o (thoughts) with the Aquarium’s enthusiastic Volunteer staff, and more. The Maui Ocean Center Store will offer a free Hawaiian-print mug with a single purchase of $20 or more. Coupons for this special offer will be available at the Aquarium’s front gate, and can also be found on mauioceancenter.com. From 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the award-winning Seascape Ma‘alaea Restaurant will offer a delicious island-style plate lunch special. All activities, excluding any upgrades or lunch specials, are included with park admission.

 

Children’s Activities

Exciting craft stations will be offered throughout the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Hawaiians and the Sea exhibit, an Ocean Naturalist will host an intriguing story time, followed by a fun craft. Craft and story time activities are appropriate for children ages 3 through 12 and complimentary with park admission.

 

Shark Dive Maui™ discount

Take the plunge with Shark Dive Maui™ for less! For a limited time only, all activity agents, hotel concierge and visitor industry employees, and Kama‘aina throughout the state of Hawaii will receive 20% off the regular Shark Dive Maui™ rate for a reduced fee of $159.20 plus tax. Dives booked at the reduced rate cannot be purchased as a gift certificate, or combined with any other discounts and or offers; all Shark Dive Maui™ rules, regulations, and cancellation policy are in effect.

Shark Dive Maui™ is offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Divers must be SCUBA certified and 15 years of age or older. A dive certification card and valid Hawaii state photo identification or proof employment must be mentioned when booking and presented on the day of the dive to receive the reduced rate. Reservations are required and can be made no earlier than one business day prior to the dive, or after 12pm Friday for a Monday dive. Bookings can be made Monday through Thursday 9am to 5pm, and Friday 12pm to 5pm, by calling the Administration Office at 808-270-7075. Discount is available through December 15, 2009, valid for bookings through December 16, 2009.
